Generic Name: Benzydamine (5% Gel)
Synonyms : Tantum, Tantum Verde, Tantum Rosa, Tantum, Tantum Rosa, Tantum Verde,Benzydamine Hydrochloride .
Benzydamine is applied with inflammatory diseases mouth and throat (pharyngitis, gingivitis, stomatitis, tonsillitis),
and nonspecific vaginitis, and trihomonoznyh fungal infection.

Uses of Benzydamine:
Benzydamine belongs to the class of other local agents used in the treatment of diseases of the mouth.
Benzydamine belongs to the class of antiinflammatory products for vaginal administration used in the treatment and prevention of inflammation.
Benzydamine belongs to the class of other non-steroidal antiinflammatory and antirheumatic products used in the treatment
of inflammation and rheumatism.
Benzydamine belongs to the class of non-steroidal antiinflammatory preparations for topical use.
Benzydamine is also Used in the treatment of joint and muscular pains.
Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with acute pharyngitis; treatment of pain associated with radiation-induced oropharyngeal mucositis

Storage :
Mouth/Throat- Store below 30°C.
Topical/Cutaneous - Store below 30°C.
Store at 15°C to 30°C; protect from freezing

Warnings/Precautions:
Benzydamine may cause local irritation and/or burning sensation in patients with altered mucosal integrity.
Dilution (1:1 in warm water) may attenuate this effect.
Use caution in renal impairment: systemic absorption/adverse effects may occur.
Safety and efficacy have not been established in children 5 years of age.

Indication & Dosage of Benzydamine:
Topical/Cutaneous
Painful musculoskeletal and soft-tissue disorders
Adult: Apply a 3-5% gel. As salicylate: Apply a 6% cream/spray on the skin. Use as instructed.
Mouth/Throat
Inflammation of the mouth and throat
Adult: Rinse or gargle 15 ml of a 0.15% solution (diluted with water if stinging occurs) every 1-3 hr for not >7 days.
Alternatively, admin 4-8 puffs of a 0.15% spray onto the affected area every 1.5-3 hr.
Child: 6-12 yr: 4 puffs every 1.5-3 hr.

Overdosage of Benzydamine:
In case of overdose Benzydamine may lead to hallucination.
Pregnancy Implications:Safety has not been established in pregnant women. Use only when potential benefit outweighs possible risk to the fetus.
Lactation:Excretion in breast milk unknown/use caution
Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to Benzydamine or any component of the formulation

Effects on Dental Treatment:
Key adverse event(s) related to dental treatment: Numbness, burning/stinging sensation, and xerostomia (normal salivary flow resumes upon discontinuation).

Adverse Drug Reactions:
Topical: Erythema, rash, photosensitivity. Mouth/throat preparations: Numbness or stinging sensation of oral mucosa.
